I think this is a great place to stay in touch and see how everyone is doing during the winter break. Summer and I always miss everybody. How did the fun show turn out. It sure was a beautiful day. Summer was very sick and still is. Hope to hear from you all.

The fun show went great with about 15 entries in each event and the weather was perfect! Wish we could have all the shows under blue skies when the temperature was about 70. Hope Summer gets well soon. Dudley

I would like to invite all my friends from SLSC to our horse show that you're having in Raceland on Sunday, December 3, 2006 starting at 9:00 am with some judged events and followed by the speed events. We are trying to start up our horse shows again for all of our local horsey friends. This will be a mini trial show to see how everything goes. We are strongly thinking about starting up a series of shows in 2007 with the help of all our horse show people. If you have any questions about this show, you may contact me @ 985-856-4429. Thanks again and I hope to see some of you there.

Mr Dudley I would love to help out in any way I can but I am new to this so you & Mrs Sue would have to teach me. I try to help out with setting up but. I guess all I can say is yell when you need help! I've been working on getting some new club members for next year I think I have 2 maybe 3. will we have the judged events back next year? 1 young lady just rides in judged events. The other 2 do both speed & judged events. When I spoke with them it was the Idea of entry credit points that they liked most of all, Knowing that they would get an award at the year end for trying is a big plus for the younger riders. But on the other hand raising to points mean that more people might have to show up for the last few shows. Bring attendance up for those show.

Lorrie Thank you for your offer to help more and for helping us out this year. Sue and I miss the judged events very much as these are the main events we rode in. However, with no participation in these classes to pay for the awards and for the Judges, it would not be possible to have them. We are in the planning stage for next year and know that we will have judged events at least in the Classics. I have been getting in touch with former judged event riders to see if any would like to come back and show again next year and so far the results have been disappointing for various reasons, mostly Katrina related. We are considering adding another Classic next year to enable Judged event riders to be able to get more entry credits toward a membership award and possibly we could make some type of award for 15 entry credits in judged events or possibly raise the entry fee in judged events to help pay for their membership awards with fewer entry credits. I wish we could hear more from the members telling us what they would like us to do. Very few members responded to the question, what changes would you like to see for next year, on the buckle order form. We had a few suggestions, and we acted upon a couple of them already. MEMBERS: Please use this forum, or phone me, to let us know what changes you would like to see for next year. We may not be able to make all changes for various reasons, but we WILL consider all of them. All changes must be made by December 8 because this is when we write up the schedules and rules for next year so we can have them at the Awards Party on December 16.

EVERYONE: You are all invited to attend our awards party on December 16 at 6 pm till midnight at the KC Hall by Immaculata High School at the corner of Avenue D and 6th Street in Marrero. We have this party close to Christmas so that everyone is in the holiday spirit. We want all of you to come with your family and friends with the intention of having fun and enjoying yourselves. We do not have a meeting or discuss controversial subjects at the party because alcoholic beverages are allowed and this would not be the correct venue for such activities. SEE YA! ;D ;D ;D

IMPORTANT wwltv.com According to the commissioner of Agriculture & Forestry equine owners have a reason to be on the look out for another horse disease. Outbreaks have been occurring in the southwestern parish for about six month but recently in north La & the Florida parishes have been infected recently. Symptoms include fever, loss of appetite, listlessness & swelling of the lymph nodes in the neck/ throat area. If a horse displaying these symptoms contact a vet. Strangles is a bacterial infection that can be easily spread from horse to horse especially during horse show/ trail rides or any time we take our horses around other horses. this info came off of wwltv.com then go to northshore news HORSE OWNERS BEWARE OF ANOTHER DISEASE

Hello everyone, Mark Jr. and I have been hitting a few shows on the northshore. He has been doing very well with "Dixie" winning 1st or 2nd in every class. But, we are mostly looking forward to our SLSC 2007 shows. The other shows don't really compare to the quality of the show and the stiff competition you guys offer. It makes us better riders. We also miss all of you, our friends. We are dedicated to the SLSC. The arena at Church Hill isn't as bad as it looks. It still has a firm pack to the sand. As long as the rain gives us a little break we should be ok for the fun show. Oh and Rebel is starting to keep all 4 hooves on the ground so strap your boots on tight the competition is going to get tougher. Mark and I look forward to seeing all of you at the next show.
